BLACK
BELT SECOND DEGREE (BB II), A.S.P. PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM.
This
program addresses combinations of kicks with punches in linear and circular
patterns, and the study of new throwing techniques and their combination with
those learned in the first degree Black Belt program. Only simple throws
have been selected on the basis of elements
of motion of wide applicability and frequent effective use in Judo competition.
In preparation for the arm, wrist, and leg controls (locks) of later programs,
special wrist limbering and strengthening exercises are introduced along with
coordinating techniques leading to correct motions, footwork, and positioning of
the body and limbs for the application of controls (locks). This is
achieved with special linear and circular defenses against wrist
holds from the front and the back.
THE STRATEGY OF A.S.P. IS TO WORK WITH STRUCTURED COMBINATIONS OF ELEMENTS OF
MOTION IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM YIELD FOR THE EXPENDED EFFORT, MAXIMUM
RETENTION, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, EFFECTIVE SELF-DEFENSE THAT LENDS ITSELF ALSO
TO SPORT COMPETITION.
